Hereford Sixth Form College and Borderlines Film Fashion Show

20th April 2011

Hereford Sixth Form College students and staff entertained the Mayor and other guests at the Borderlines Film Festival Ball at the Town Hall on Saturday 2nd April.

The show, in the form of a fashion parade, with film extracts and music, depicted the enormous variety of film costume over the last 80 years from Charlie Chaplin to Star Wars.

The show was a massive collaborative effort demonstrating the talent at the College and the depth of local resources.

Robin Hood wore the breastplate made in Ledbury-based Norton Armouries for Russell Crowe in the film. Special effect make-up for the character in Black Swan and the Joker from The Dark Knight was by Max Van de Banks of Chepstow. Hair was by Peter Prosser and make-up was by Eden Hair Health and Beauty from Herefordshire College of Technology.

An exact copy of the gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s was made for the event and auctioned to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

An army of students, staff and volunteers were involved in creating the illusion. The show was co-ordinated by Diane Evans, the College Chaplain, who before moving to the area worked as a theatrical costumier. The excellent choreography was by Ali Bendall.

45 student models and the team of dressers, hair, make-up, sound and lighting technicians overran the Town Hall, filling it with the evocative music of 50 of our favourite films. A night to remember.
