Meghan Rigby
A Re-Awakened Love of Rowing
11th December 2010
Student Meghan Rigby first started rowing when she was 13 years old. Meghan competed in a number of competitions but in December 2008 was forced to stop rowing due to a back injury.
In May 2010, a Discover Rowing Club was established at College in conjunction with Ross Rowing Club. Meghan saw the club advertised and immediately signed up.
Getting back on the water after two years was a huge moment for Meghan but she was able to confront her fears. She said, "I was extremely anxious when I first got back in the boat but I quickly began to relax and realised how much I missed rowing. The Instructor was great and quickly recognised my ability so asked me to help with the coaching."
Meghan's love for rowing has been re-awakened and she now rows 3 times a week. She is competing again and also helps with the coaching at the Club having gained her Level 2 award in Coaching.
