Beckii Makes Top Five in National Competition
6th December 2010
The Vacancy TWENTY10 was a competition to find a co-host for the breakfast show on the national radio station Liberty Radio for one month's work placement.
Current student, Rebecca Lovelock, was the youngest contestant and from over ten thousand entries made it through to the top five through a process of 'Apprentice-style' challenges. Beckii went through many and varied live radio auditions and interviews which were designed to assess passion, determination and creative skills. There were team tasks too, which were designed to highlight abilities to work productively and co-operate in a team - skills needed for the greater part of co-presenting.
Ultimately, Beckii didn't win the competition. But getting into the top five was a major achievement and the experience can only enhance her future prospects. She's had a fantastic insight into how a national radio station operates and has had the benefit of live radio work, use of an agent with PR support and advertising and her own business cards for that all important networking.
We'll keep our ears open for you in the future, Beckii.
