Prime Minister Welcomes Sixth Form College Principal to Downing Street

Jonathan Godfrey, Principal of Hereford Sixth Form College was one of the guests of honour at a reception for leaders of outstanding colleges held at Downing Street on 15th March. Dr Godfrey said, “I was delighted to be invited and had a long conversation with the Prime Minister about the College and also his old school in Kirkcaldy where my wife was also a pupil”.
 
Gordon Brown said “I am pleased to be able to recognise the work of Hereford Sixth Form College and the achievements of its staff and students.”
 
Dr Godfrey also spoke to Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business innovation and Skills who has agreed to try to visit the College to open the new £2m Business block in the summer. Lord Mandelson, whose title is Baron Mandelson of Foy in the County of Herefordshire said “I should be pleased to be able to revisit Herefordshire and look forward to coming to such an outstanding college.”
 
Fellow Principals also congratulated Dr Godfrey on receiving an award from the Sunday Times ‘Best Places to work in the Public Sector’ survey as one of the top three leaders in a public sector company.
