Students Raise Over £500 for Cancer Research
9th January 2009
A group of Hereford Sixth Form College Travel & Tourism students organised and hosted a ceilidh dance as part of the A2 Travel & Tourism coursework. The group came together in June and researched possible ideas for an event. The students worked closely together throughout the autumn term to organise a very successful ceilidh night in December to raise funds for Cancer Research.
The evening was held at the Royal National College and featured Hereford Sixth Form College Ceilidh Band and was attended by over 75 people.
The evening was a great success and as a result £516.20 was raised for Cancer Research from ticket sales and the raffle. The raffle prizes were donated by a variety of Herefordshire businesses and featured an assortment of prizes such as a Hereford United football, a £100 studio portrait voucher and bouncy castle hire.
The students found the whole process demanding and very rewarding and they would like to extend a big thank you to the Hereford Sixth Form College Ceilidh Band, all Herefordshire businesses that donated prizes and all their customers who came along and danced the night away.
