WJEC Anniversary Awards - Hereford Sixth Form College Student Wins Prize

15th December 2008

On 15 December 2008, the examination awarding body WJEC marked its 60th anniversary by holding a prestigious Awards Ceremony in Cardiff to celebrate the achievement of its best A Level students in England and Wales.

Winning a cash prize for best German A Level was Lucy Godding, a former student of Hereford Sixth Form College. Lucy was one of 738 students to sit this A Level in England and Wales in the summer of 2008.

The awards were presented by Jane Hutt, the Welsh Assembly Government’s Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, and the MC was the Radio 1 and S4C presenter, Huw Stephens.

Gareth Pierce, WJEC's Chief Executive, said: "WJEC offers examinations and assessment in schools and colleges throughout England and Wales and it's a rare privilege to meet some of the students who have benefited from our work and achieved such excellent results."

In addition to students, their parents and teachers, the audience at the event included senior advisers and executives in education, the arts and politics from Wales and England.
