Once again, the College's Young Enterprise team is up and running and is already off to a flying start under the close supervision of Kate Hudson, Tutor of Business Studies and their Managing Director, Shae Courtney.
With a company name, logo and slogan already in place, the new team, Aquilae, has already put together some fantastic business ideas, including handmade jewellery and greetings cards.
Aquilae have taken into consideration the environmental impact of the company and have ensured that all products and even the team meetings are as environmentally friendly as possible by enforcing “The Aquilae 5-point Eco-plan”. Their mission statement, “Our mission is simple - to deliver high quality products at affordable prices with great customer service”, is both holistic and indicative of the company’s intentions.
Aquilae’s first sale was at the Anti-Bullying Conference at College on Friday, 31st October. Three of Aquilae’s members were present at the Conference which ran from 10am until 4pm. A number of guests at the event were delighted with the jewellery on offer and many successful sales were made. The Managing Director said: “I think this event highlights the importance of young people working together to create an enjoyable and harmonious environment for all. This reflects Aquilae’s values too in that we want to see everyone reaching their personal goals. It’s a real delight to see so many of the College’s students in action today.”
The hope for Aquilae now is for there to be stalls in local secondary schools and for there to be a strong presence at local craft fairs. Look out for more information from Aquilae in the coming months!
