Students for Students: The Support Team
Students for Students
13th October 2008
Do you need advice - perhaps about College life or College activities?
Have you got anxieties or concerns which you’re finding it difficult to talk about with the folks at home? Would you value having someone to listen to you?
Our College’s Students For Students group is here to provide support for you as a student in these areas.
If you would like to contact them, two members of the group (on a rota) are regularly ‘on duty’ in the Pavilion or the Bridge Café – you can recognise them by the Students For Students board displayed on the table where they’re sitting. Members of the group also wear a distinctive green wrist band as an identifier, so look out for them around College.
There is a confidential e-mail address for the group also: studentsforstudents@hereford.ac.uk, so you can make contact direct if you wish. If you would prefer a private, confidential discussion, group members have access to the Quiet Room in H4.
The group’s members are second year students. Almost by definition they need to be, as they have gained experience and knowledge of College life which enables them to offer help to other students.
The group, initially sixteen but now fifteen (after Rose Cherian moved with her parents to Hertfordshire just prior to the start of term), undertook two days of training in College early in the summer holiday. The training was excellent, informative and fun, and was provided by Wendy Beswetherick on behalf of the CLD Youth Counselling Trust.
At the end of the two days the group elected its leaders: Matt Taylor as Chairman, Holly Litherland as Vice-Chairman, and the admin team is Emma Carr, Katie Dyke, and Becky Gundy with other members of the group taking responsibility for posters, publicity, and rota management.
In addition to those named the group’s members include: Zita Adeoye, Harriett Atkinson, Charlie Collins, Nola Godbert, Martha Kelly, Charlie Lyden, Hannah Packwood, Dan Smith, Suzanne Turvey and Clare Williams.
Students For Students is here to serve YOU – so don’t be shy, make contact direct with the group’s members or via that confidential e-mail number.
