A2 Travel & Tourism Students Learning the Art of Group Work

24th June 2008

As part of the A2 Travel and Tourism course, students must learn to work together as a team and they have been learning the art of group work through stick levitation!

The first unit in the Travel and Tourism A2 course is "Event Management" and requires students to work together closely as team to research, organise, market and carry out a Travel and Tourism event. Working together as a team is at the heart of the success of their events and their portfolio work. To help the students communicate, bond as a team and understand the importance of team effort students were set a simple task to lower a garden cane to the floor. However, the students found that the stick mysteriously levitated upwards! After a few attempts, the teams learnt that with effective team work and communication they could lower their poles to the floor. They were then given the opportunity to reflect as teams on the importance of good communications and working together.

Many of the events that are organised by the students will be available to staff and students across the College, so don’t forget to look out for the poster and bulletins to hear about 2008’s exciting Travel and Tourism events. Good luck to all the teams!
