Speakers' Judge Mary
3rd March 2008
Former student, Mary Nugent, who is now at Magdalene College, Cambridge reading Social and Political Sciences, recently has been in touch with our Chaplain, Mike Vockins, after hearing about the good performances of the College’s speaking team of Michael Wheeler and James Langford in the Three Counties British Parliamentary Debate competition, held at Malvern before half-term.
Mary, who was actively involved in the Debating Society during her time here at Folly Lane, as well as being Leader of the Christian Union, has retained her interests in debating and public speaking whilst at Cambridge.
She says, “I'm involved in British Parliamentary debating here, and spotted that Hereford Sixth Form College took part in the Three Counties school competition (and did extremely well by the looks of it!). Cambridge University Union runs a schools competition too, in which I'm involved as a judge, and so we often have the results of other competitions around the place.”
