Hereford Sixth Form College students have surpassed previous records with another set of outstanding examination results. The overall A level pass rate of 98.8% for over 630 candidates is 2% above the national average. 59% of A level entries resulted in an A or B grade 10% above the national average and 29 subjects had a 100% pass rate. As usual, the College was named as one of the top performing Sixth Form Colleges in the country in national press league tables.
Silver medal for Lyndon
Lyndon Webb (ex Aylestone High School) has been named as the TOP candidate in the Humanities group of A levels offered by the AQA exam board. Lyndon’s performance was judged to be the best out of over 60,000 students sitting a wide range of subjects. This outstanding performance will be recognised at a special award ceremony in Westminster, at which Lyndon will receive a solid silver medal and diploma.
Top marks for General Studies and Communication Studies

Head of General Studies, Steve Hancorn said, “This is a unique occurrence. To have 4 out of the top 5 candidates is unprecedented. It confirms the strength of the College’s General Education programme”. Principal, Jonathan Godfrey, said “I am delighted that the commitment of staff to this part of our work has been so clearly demonstrated. The General Studies Department at the College must be the best in the country.”
Stephanie Mills (ex Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School) gained one of the top 4 marks in AQA Communication Studies A level.
Over 141 students gained 3 or more grade A’s at A level.
